ABSTRACT: This study explores the influence of early childhood education (ECE) on fostering respect for diversity among young children, crucial for promoting inclusive attitudes and understanding in multicultural societies. The objectives are to (1) assess changes in children's awareness and acceptance of diversity in ECE settings, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of diversity education integrated into ECE curricula, and (3) examine the role of ECE in shaping inclusive attitudes towards diversity. A survey design is justified to collect data on diversity awareness and qualitative insights into children's perceptions of diversity. A purposive sample of 140 children from preschools in Oyo State was selected. The case study focuses on preschools recognized for their inclusive diversity programs. Findings indicated increased awareness and acceptance of diversity among children, effective integration of diversity education, and positive attitudes towards cultural differences fostered by ECE participation. Recommendations include enhancing diversity education in ECE curricula, celebrating cultural diversity, and promoting inclusive practices that respect and embrace children's diverse backgrounds.
